A group can mean many things. Ask 2 people what a group is and you will probably get a similar answer, but ask 2 people what a group of farmers working together is called and you will start to get quite different answers!
At East Suffolk Produce we are seeking the best of group working while still leaving control on farm to ensure that each business can develop in the direction it chooses.
As the numbers of Potato customers are rationalising so are the numbers of growers but at the same time it can be hard to know where the best opportunities lie in any market place from year to year. As we are in the market for the whole year we get a good idea of what is going on and can steer our members in the most sensible directions for the quality of crop they have to offer.
This means customers get what they want and so do our growers. In theory everyone can prosper together.
We offer credit insurance to all members on most customers as well as Technical help, Agronomy and Seed Procurement based on actual visits to growing crops to ensure we choose the very best, but this is all optional.
